ATTACK SYSTEM AGAINST MAN-TO-MAN FROM BOX FORMATION
Attack against man-to-man defense starting with a box formation (BOX). The movement begins with an entry pass to player #3 who receives a PIN DOWN (vertical indirect screen) from center #5 to small forward #3; if freed, he could shoot. Player #2 moves to the small forward on the opposite side. Step #1
With the ball at small forward #3, a vertical indirect screen is set at the top by point guard #1 to center #4, who opens up to the front of the perimeter. Player #3 can pass to player #4 for a three-point shot or to post #5 for a back-to-the-basket footwork move or to generate plays distributing passes from that position. Step #2
If player #3 cannot pass to either, or if player #4 cannot shoot, he returns the pass to #3; player #3 then passes to point guard #1, who receives a horizontal screen along the baseline from center #5 and cuts to the corner on that side (occupying the corner). If open or with a slight advantage, he can finish with a three-pointer. Step #3.
Finally, point guard #1 dribbles from the corner to the small forward and passes the ball in a low post position to #5. The rest of the players perform a CIRCULAR SPACING: #3 replaces #4, #4 replaces #2, and #2 moves toward the corner. Player #4 may also move to occupy the opposite elbow of the zone (ELBOW). Center #5 will finish or distribute the play from that position.
