What is a 'Zipper' screen

It is a strategic movement and positioning play used to free a player, usually a shooting guard or a small forward, to receive the ball in an advantageous position. The play begins with the player who is going to receive the ball (the receiver) located on the baseline. A teammate positions near the three-point line, ready to set a screen (pick). The receiver runs towards the top of the key, passing close to the screen set by his teammate. This upward movement resembles a zipper being pulled up, hence the name "zipper." After receiving the ball, the receiver has several options: they can shoot, pass to another teammate, or initiate another play. This movement helps to free the receiver from their defender and create effective offensive opportunities.

STEP 1 5 sets a strong screen to free a teammate and create close-range scoring opportunities. Power forward plants a screen to improve attack angle and facilitate ball reception. Shooting guard shifts to an optimal spot on the court to maximize offensive efficiency. 3 moves to support teammates and maintain constant game flow.
