The point guard calls the play followed by the name of the player who will run it. Then he performs a handoff but keeps the ball, like a check ball. Meanwhile the bigs position themselves at the blocks to set two indirect screens: one at the low post and one at the high post.

The point guard calls the play followed by the name of the player who will run it. Then he performs a handoff but keeps the ball, like a check ball. Meanwhile the bigs position themselves at the blocks to set two indirect screens: one at the low post and one at the high post.

Basketball play ramp or pin-down, step 2: <div>a “fake” cut by number 2 is made to clear the area where the shooter will come out
A “fake” cut by number 2 is made to clear the area where the shooter will come out. The shooter uses two indirect screens from the bigs. VERY IMPORTANT: the point guard must gain the middle with the dribble to give an easy pass, not a long diagonal one. TIMING IS KEY: the PG does not gain the middle until the shooter is about to come out.

Basketball play ramp or pin-down, step 3: <div>main option: 3 receives the pass for the shot
Main option: 3 receives the pass for the shot. If it doesn’t work, there are options:

-1st OPTION (only if the defender chases from behind): 3 curls to the basket instead of coming out to shoot after the second screen, receiving the pass to attack the rim.

-2nd OPTION (only if the defender stays on the screen but contests the shot): 3 comes off the screen to shoot, but seeing the defense arrive, waits and plays a pick and roll with the big who set the second screen.
