(1v1) Lateral Cut Advantage
Basketball drill (1v1) lateral cut advantage
STEP 1

Starting position.
I have added A4 for the initial pass, although in practice the pass would be made by the defender.

STEP 2

The initial pass is made to one of the perimeter players. In this example, the ball moves from A2 to A1 and then to A3.
A1 cuts and receives the ball while moving into the low post.
The defender must go around the cones, starting with the one closest to the initial pass.

STEP 3

A1 receives the ball on the move into the low post while the defender closes in.

Drill

(1v1) Lateral Cut Advantage

The drill starts with a pass from defense to offense followed by a horizontal pass to activate the defense, then a 2-on-1 is played towards the opposite basket without dribbling. It creates continuous pass-and-move situations in which, after passing, players decide which space to attack by cutting.
