5-on-4 continuous full court drill

Here’s an effective and simple drill to improve your attack against a zone defense: the 5-on-4 continuous full court. This drill will help you create spaces, move the ball, and find gaps in the defense.

It’s interesting to always assign one player to attack according to your objective. Three ideas could be: always the point guard, or a big man receiving in the high or low post, or a player attacking with the goal of driving and kicking or shooting from the corner.

It’s ideal for working on team play with 9 players, but it can also be adapted well to 7: 4-on-3 continuous.

In offense, focus on:
Reading the defense
Creating doubts with fakes
Taking advantage of the extra player
Proper spacing and overloads
It’s also great to observe reactions to cuts and read them to gain advantages on receiving and finishing.

This drill will improve your players’ court vision, decision-making, and creativity against zone defenses. It’s also excellent for practicing defensive fakes and help rotations.
Practice it regularly and you’ll see the results in games! #zoneoffense
