Drill

Half-court drill designed to simulate real offensive situations with 3 active attackers and 3 defenders present.

#Other basketball drills

STEP 1
We position 3 defenders along the baseline and 3 attackers in the outer offensive area.
STEP 2
JCB1 (Defender) passes to teammate 2 and goes to defend attacker 1.
STEP 3
JCB 2 passes to 3 and goes to defend their attacker 2.
STEP 4
JCB 3 passes the ball to Attacker 1 and goes to defend Attacker 3.
This last defender will simulate being beaten by touching or going around the cone behind the attacker.
(We can position ourselves to force the defender to touch the hand so that Attacker 3 works on attacking with the front foot)
STEP 5
STEP 6
Attacker 1 passes to 2

STEP 7
2 passes to 3, who receives it stationary and beats Defender 3, working on exits
STEP 8
The defense must position itself according to team rules, 2 will close the passing lane, and 1 will be the last defender (Call out 'last!!')
STEP 9
Attacker 3 will drive to the basket, and the last defender will provide help!! Def 1.
Defender 2 will provide the second help, closing the possible pass to player 1 from Attacker 3.
Defender 3 must continue defending until the second help is called and should close the possible pass to Attacker 2.

STEP 10
We can work with rules for offense;

  • Only finish with penetration
  • Only outside shot
  • Only mid-range shot
  • No double penetrations
  • Limit dribbles (Max. 2 per player)
  • Only 1 rebound as a 2nd chance to score
We can have them play this situation in half-court and then continue to the opposite side while other players start.
