DRILL 28 - "Read and React"

STEP 1

Initial formation of players, ready to start the play with fluidity and clear passing lanes.

STEP 2

Point guard sets a strong screen to free a teammate and create close-range scoring opportunities. 2 establishes a screen to create advantage and confuse the defense.

STEP 3

Point guard changes location seeking advantage over the defender and scoring opportunities. Shooting guard alters position to create defensive mismatches and penetration options. Point guard adjusts position to facilitate ball movement and anticipate the defense.

Drill

DRILL 28 - "Read and React"

Player with the ball drives around the two passive defensive players in the paint. They start set parallel to the baseline and when the offensive player approaches they set one foot slightly in front of the other. The goal of the offensive player is to attack the side where the defense’s leg is in front. After the offensive player finishes, the top defender gets open for the outlet pass, and the offensive player and the second defender stay in the paint as defensive players.
