A layup drill with something more

I really like drills that allow us to work on various technical and tactical elements, although they often have the drawback of being without defense, which makes them less realistic. Even so, I find them fundamental for working at rhythm both tactically and individually in 1x0 and 2x0 situations to internalize movements before adding defense.

To make up for the lack of demand without defense, I like them to be high-paced, putting a lot of emphasis on doing things correctly and especially on making starts and changes of pace very intense.
I try to include several elements so they also serve as mental activation at the beginning of practices.

Here’s a very simple drill that, besides working on finishes, helps me train the first and second pass in fast break situations.

Even though it is done on half court, it’s quite demanding if each movement is performed with intensity and speed.

STEP 1
There are three positions: one with the ball from a half-court corner, another in the baseline corner opposite the first, and one in the middle at free-throw line level.
STEP 2
The exercise begins with a reception fake by the player in the baseline corner (2) to receive the pass from (1) outside the 3-point line.
STEP 3
After passing the ball, (1) makes a cut to receive and finish with a pass returned by (2). After returning the ball, (2) goes to get the ball from the drive made by (1). If they miss, they must grab the rebound, and if they score, they must get it
STEP 4
The rotation is very simple: (1) after cutting goes to the corner row where (2) was, (2) after getting the rebound or baseline out, goes to the central row where (3) was. It's important to rotate in a straight line to avoid standing on the line
