CLOSE OUT EXERCISES - EXERCISE 8

Drill
DEVELOPMENT:

Defender 1 starts the exercise when they touch the ball from attacker 1's hands and simultaneously shout “ball”. At that moment, attacker 1 will pass the ball to the coach, who will then pass it to attacker 2, who will have previously worked to receive at a 45-degree angle. During this process, defender 1 will slap hands with defender 2 and become “Last”. Defender 2 cannot go to defend attacker 2 until defender 1 slaps their hand. The goal is for defender 2 to be able to properly execute the close-out on attacker 2 at the right timing.

VARIATIONS:
- If the timing of the exercise is not correct, we can force attacker 2 to make a change before they can attack or delay the pass from the coach to attacker 2.

STEP 1 The initial setup is organized to create synergy between movements, screens, and passes for the opening play.
STEP 2 Shooting guard adjusts position to facilitate ball movement and anticipate the defense. Shooting guard moves strategically to provide new passing lanes and open space. Point guard moves to support teammates and maintain constant game flow.
